Question Why Zelda!?

Why is the name of the series: The Legend of Zelda? As far as i know, you dont get to play as Zelda on any of the games, and Link is the one who does all of the work, but Zelda gets the title. I know it may seem stupid but i think it is a good point.

I just dont think it makes any sense. If they had a new protagonist but constant in Zelda that would be reasonable but think Link deserves credit for saving Zelda's lazy @$$ so many times.

the legend of zelda refers to the sleeping Zelda from AoL, if I remember correctly. It's a legend that's been passed down. Maybe someday they're planning to make a major Zelda game that uses this legend to tie the storyline together.

Lols. That definitely sounds completely horrible.

Hearing of F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife Zelda, Mr. Miyamoto thought the name sounded "pleasant and significant."Paying tribute, he chose to name the Princess after her, and titled his creation The Legend of Zelda.

(Note:I copyed this from Wikipedia And I am not calling it my work)

It was also probably because the actual "legend" that the series follows revolves around Zelda, and the fact that every girl born into the Royal family of Hyrule is named Zelda.
