Well there isnt much advice to give apart from 'try harder'.

Make sure you kill the bird things as that makes the whole battle shorter.

You just have to protect the convo. Kill the orcs and shoot the birds and you'll make it through. There's no help we can provide.

Okay, first off, how far have you got? Are you even at the point where you have to escort Telma and Ilia to Kakariko?

If you're not...
Once you meet Rutela, kill the rest of the twilight bugs and restore light to Lanayru Province. Go back to Telma's Bar in Hyrule Castle Town and after the cutscene you have to escort them to Kakariko Village as mentioned above.

If you are...
Stay near the wagon at all times - just behind it works best when you're crossing Hyrule Field. Sword and bow can be used to knock the bokoblins off their hog steeds. I seem to remember bird monsters dropping bombs - shoot them before they can. If the bokoblins set the wagon on fire, use the Gale Boomerang to put it out. When you get near a gate, ride ahead and unlock it before the wagon gets there so that it doesn't have to wait.

This is not very difficult as long as you pay close attention to things. You need to make sure that you never let the bird things get too close, or the cart will turn around and do the whole loop again. Also, arrows are the ideal weapon at this point. That's the only thing I used when I did this part.
