This is one of my first Zelda stories, so please be patient with me.

This story takes place just after "Twilight Princess"

Chapter One:
Link yawned and shook his head. He had been having horrible dreams about the dreaded wizard, Ganondorf. His cold, evil smile. His dreadful laugh. His lust for power, burning in his eyes. It had been three months after Link had defeated Ganon. Life was different for Link. It wasn't just the dreams, but he rarely was at Ordon Village anymore. He was travelling across Hyrule, visiting the people of Kakariko Village, the Gorons in Death Mountain, The Zoras... everyone. Including Princess Zelda herself. But, since Midna had shattered the mirror, Link was unable to see her, but he still thought about her. Llia couldn't help but notice Link's restlessness lately. That very morning, she decided to confront him about it. There was no point in holding it off any longer. She was worried about him.
So, as Link dressed in his usual green tunic and saddled up Epona early morning, Llia ran down the Path. "Link, listen, I've noticed you've been kind've... restless lately, and I want to know if I can help," she said slowly. Link paused. "I... it's just dreams, that's all. Everything's fine, Llia." He forced a small smile. Llia didn't fall for it. She put a hand on his shoulder. "Link, please, I want to help you. What kind of dreams?" she asked. Link turned to face her. "Dreams about... erm... my adventure," Link half-lied. He didn't feel like letting it all pour out. Especially to Llia, even though they were good friends. Llia still wasn't fooled. She sighed. "Okay Link, but if you ever want to talk about something... then, just come to me." And with that, Llia ran back up the path to the village. Link watched her leave for a minute, then he mounted Epona. He could always tell Llia another time. He and Epona rushed at a gallop to Kakariko Gorge.
Chapter Two:
After riding to Kakariko Gorge, Link pulled Epona to a halt as he saw the mail carrier jog up to him. "Here, Mr. Link! A letter from Princess Zelda! My business is concluded. Good-bye!" He jogged back down the mountainside. Link, suprisedly opened the letter and read the few words in black ink: "Come to Hyrule Castle. There's a slight emergency. We need to talk." And that was it. With a shocked expression, Link hopped onto Epona and turned her around, and galloped quickly straight to Hyrule Castle.
Link made his way to the Throneroom. It was dark, except for the dimly lit torches on the walkway. Zelda waited patiently in her throne. "Link. You remember Midna, don't you?" Zelda asked. Link nodded. How could he possibly forget? "Well, Midna is in grave danger. Ganondorf has died, but his memory lives on in Zant. I know Zant is dead, but Zant's son, Zorak, has had Ganondorf's memory passed down to him. Zorak is planning to get rid of Midna and claim the Twilight World, then move on to blanketing the World of Light. Zant's typical plan. But, Ganondorf has a bigger part in this: Dragons. He has taken on the form of a dragon, after using Zorak to revive himself. It took only three months. He is not really alive, but he's alive enough to overpower anyone. He can control any dragon he wants to." It took a minute for Link to take this in. So. Ganondorf was back. "But, how do we get into the Twilight Realm?" Link asked. Zelda was quick to respond. "The mirror may be shattered, but Midna's warping power isn't. She has created a portal, one portal, right in the Throneroom." Link looked around, and then, he saw it. On the ceiling, a black, swirling, misty black mass, oozing shadows and black dust. "It took a lot for Midna to make it, so she is weaker now. Weak enough to give a chance for Zorak and Ganondorf to strike. We have to hurry," Zelda said. Link nodded. He felt the familiar rush of excitement along with worry. A whole new adventure. "I'm ready."
