Problems

When I first joined the forums, every time I would log in there would be a few people active. But, when I left ZF and came back, there was the same inactivity. I was pretty sure that when I came back, we'd have more active members. Sure, there were different people, just not very many.

Like Matt said, we're driving people away. This is a problem that the members individually must learn themselves. We innecessantly judge those by their usernames, inactivity, and their lack of progress.

Grammar
This is one very stupid reason to ever complain about. So what if there's no capitalization or apostrophe? There's nothing to complain about it unless you can't read it. This is one reason I'm really disappointed in.

Harassment
There's a lot of harassment going on between members. The main reason, which I really hate, is grammar. Like I said, there's nothing to complain about it unless you can't read it.

Noobs
Yeah, the constant army of noobs are joining ZF and giving us a bad name. Such noobs are Twilight Link, Kat, and many others that are banned at the moment. I don't think there's a way to prevent them from coming to the site, but we still have a chance of catching them.

I haven't been here long enough to experience this, but I've seen a bit of it already. I don't care much for grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes as long as I can still understand what they just said.

Agreed. I honestly think the term "Grammar Nazi" needs to be used more around here, just to point out that people who are meticulously obsessed with grammar are being just as idiotic as the noobs who can't spell. The last person's grammar I made a big deal out of was TwilightLink's, because it was honestly terrible, and he couldn't form complete sentences despite the fact that english was his first language. Since then, I haven't seen anyone on the forums worthy of a "grammar talk."

Heh. Why do I get the feeling that this is hugely directed at me?

And probably for what I said to LRM, right?

In that case, a PM works better than a thread called 'problems'. Now I'm just p!ssed off.

I just find it frustrating when people have a username with bad grammar, because you have to see it so often. It just winds me up a bit. I don't know why. I just like things like this to be right. Is that a crime? People make a lot of grammar slip-ups that I let go unnoticed, too.

And I don't see over-caution with grammar as being a problem that scares members away.

And asking someone who can use proper grammar to use it is not 'harrassment', NF. Making a thread to complain about someone, no matter how subtly, is harrassment.

What I mainly hate is the fact that mods try to keep acting like mods too hard. They constantly close threads that could be a spurt to discussion and it pisses me off.

You know you could simply name the individual who you think is destroying our forums.
Because that is just about as blantantly obvious as it gets.
Ewok calm down, it was directed at many more than you, myself included.
I think what NF is trying to say is simply calm down alittle, on being overly sensitive. Which I find is a perfectly reasonable request, though a better choice of words would have been preferable.
I have already been as was termed hippiefied. Simply meaning a reduction in my overall output of insults and attacks on people, which has happened.
I do agree with Ewok, however that if you wish to talk to someone on matter such as this a thread is a poor way of doing so and that the best manner is PMing.
Someone provide Matt quote please.
Random note: Going to my dads trailer on the lake for the weekend, be back on (Hopefully) next week, pending mother's nazi levels.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but on a slightly related topic, I haven't actually used my mod powers in about 6 months.

OK, this idea was started by me, in a welcome thread. I don't remember who, it may have even been me, that said something about the inactivity. So, I said that perhaps we were scaring them away.

Just about everyone on ZF, that is active, has done "Grammar Nazi-ing" before.

Raccoon, last set of threads I closed, were all spam. They were all jokes, and bad ones at that. By LRM. They should've been one thread, too.

All active members have done there share of judging, including myself. Though I try and judge on the quality and intellegence of posts, which largly is based on grammer...
