Nintendo and Microsoft, in my opinion, match each other on a scale of how fun their games are.
Nintendo has, in the past, had some very horrible games released, but likewise, so has Microsoft.
All around, I prefer Microsoft's games. Looking at my profile will answer that question for you, but I still love Nintendo equally as much.
The Nintendo 64 was my first system, along with the PlayStation, and I remember having a lot of fun with them.
I got a Gamecube several years back and loved it. Still do.
My Xbox is terrible. It barely ever reads the disc, though the games I have for it are good.
So, in my overall opinion, Nintendo is better at the systems while Microsoft is just a bit better at the games.

I'd say that's a fair statement, although what is a better game is highly subjective. I would argue that nintendo is better at creating good basic gameplay while xbox games tend to me more polishied as far as graphics and sound go. this is generally speaking, there are alsways exeptions. Also while the 360 has better system specs there have been numerous maintenance problems (sometimes costly) with the 360. I think there are a lot of game genres that get ignored by the more mainstreem PS3 and 360 and nintendo has done a fantastic job at filling that void. not to mention they've been doing video games longer than sony and MS.

I actually think microsoft might be better at systems and nintendo better at games, atleast in the past. Nintendo has the most original and memorable characters, but they're all old now and just keep being reused in new games. being a big nintendo fan, i used to hate microsoft but last year i caved in. i have an xbox elite and it's pretty great. the graphics, and internet connection. i love how you can play with your friends, and the achievments system really makes me want to beat my games. but i really got it mainly to play games that i couldn't get for the nintendo, like rockband, bioshock, and now GTA4.

Nintendo. Microsoft charges you for everything. Heck, you have to pay to go online with LIVE. That's rubbish. And they want to charge people for content updates.
Charge this. Charge that. Jeesh.

You dont have to pay for content updates. (depending on how good the update is. most of them are free.)
Also its only £4.99 a month to go online with Xbox Live. Not exactly a fortune. And if you dont feel like paying monthly you could always just buy a Year Pass for £39.99.
For the quality of Xbox Live i'd say thats a pretty good deal. And seeing as Microsoft clearly makes a lot of money from it, its not like they are going to suddenly make it free just to rival Nintendo's Online system... Not that there is much to rival.
Yea, Xbox Live has its flaws, and the most annoying one is abusal of the microphone audio chat features, but there is an easy way to work around that. Its called the 'Mute Player' and 'File Complaint' button.
This sounds extremely fanboyish and biased to say, but there are no major flaws with Xbox Live. Its cheap, fun, got some brilliant features, and is an easy way to commuicate with friends. You dont even need to pay anything to communicate with friends, you just need a broadband connection, but what doesnt these days?

A fee is a fee. Why do they charge you? They don't have to but they do. Also, they are constantly badgering developers who want to release content uodates for free.

Yes but they would make alot more friends by having it for free. At this point they aren't going to be making alot of changes to it correct? I mean you don't fix something thats good, so making it free or derastically reducing the price so that they are still making a small profit no one can complain.
