Mysterious hole on the pyramid...

Does anyone know what that hole on the west side of the pyryamid is from and/or how to access it? It's right west of the hole you make to go see the fat fairy.

I'm sure you people probably know already, but I'm talking about "A Link to the Past." Forgot to mention that in the title.

I haven't tried it (haven't played it in a while), but I think you have to go up the stairs so that you are above it, walk West, then jump down in front of the hole to walk in it.

If I remember correctly, there is a guard who will only let you past if you've gotten ten medals in Four Swords or something.
